Understand the Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP)
Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) is a type of work permit that allows temporary foreign workers who are already in Canada and waiting for the outcome of their permanent residency application to continue working in Canada. The BOWP helps bridge the gap between the expiry of their current work permit and the approval of their permanent residency application.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a BOWP, the following conditions must be met:
- You have a valid work permit that will expire in the near future
- You have applied for permanent residency in Canada under a program that is eligible for a BOWP
- You meet all the requirements of the permanent residency program you applied for
- You have not received a final decision on your permanent residency application
Different Parameters to be Met
- You must be able to provide proof of your work experience and qualifications
- You must be able to demonstrate that you have a job offer from a Canadian employer
- You must not be inadmissible to Canada on grounds of security, criminality, or medical issues
Points for Disqualification
There are a few points that could result in disqualification from the BOWP program. These include:

- If you are found to have provided false information on your application
