The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is a way for individuals to immigrate to Canada permanently through a nomination from a Canadian province or territory. The program is designed to attract and retain individuals who can contribute to the economic and social development of a specific province or territory.
Program Overview: The PNP program allows provinces and territories to nominate individuals who meet their specific economic needs. Each province and territory has its own criteria and processes for nominations. However, to be eligible for the PNP program, individuals must have a valid job offer or a business idea from a Canadian employer in that province or territory.
Program Requirements: To be eligible for the PNP program, individuals must:
- Have a valid job offer or a business idea from a Canadian employer in that province or territory
- Meet the specific criteria and requirements of that province or territory
- Meet the minimum language requirements
- Pass a medical examination and obtain police clearance certificates
- Determine your eligibility for the PNP program by meeting the requirements outlined above
- Contact the province or territory you are interested in and find out the specific criteria and processes for nominations
- Prepare and submit an application for nomination to the province or territory
- Receive a nomination from the province or territory
- Create an Express Entry profile and submit your nomination
- Receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence through the Express Entry system
- Prepare and submit your application for permanent residence
- Attend an interview, if required
- Receive a decision on your application
Benefits of applying under PNP program
Once a Provincial Nominee Certificate is granted, you receive 600 point that goes towards your Express Entry score. On average, individuals without a PNP certificate will score between 300 and 500. The most recent cutoff scores to be selected for Express Entry have been in the 400 – 500 range. Individuals with a PNP Certificate automatically are granted 600 points to add to their Express Entry core of 300-500 points. The PNP certificate would give a final Express Entry score above 900 which is significantly higher than the current cutoff selection score of around 400-500 points.
