Super Visa
multiple-entry visa
The Super Visa is a type of multiple-entry visa that allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to stay in Canada for up to two years at a time, without the need for renewal of their status. The visa is valid for up to 10 years and allows its holder to make multiple trips to Canada during that time period.
To be eligible for a Super Visa, applicants must meet certain criteria, including:
- Having a child or grandchild in Canada who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and who is willing and able to provide financial support for the duration of their stay in Canada
- Having a medical insurance policy from a Canadian insurance company that provides coverage for a minimum of one year, with a minimum coverage amount of $100,000
- Undergoing a medical examination by an approved doctor
- Providing a letter of invitation from their child or grandchild in Canada
In terms of financial requirements, the sponsor must meet a minimum income threshold, which is determined using the Low Income Measure (LIM) or the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) tables provided by the Canadian government. The income tables for 2023 have not yet been released, but the sponsor must prove that they are able to support their parents or grandparents during their stay in Canada.
